MS Dhoni, Pankaj Advani receives Padma Bhushan Award:
Dhoni and Advani received the country’s third-highest civilian award, Padma Bhushan, from President Ram Nath Kovind.
Incidentally, Dhoni is receiving the prestigious award precisely seven years since lifting the ICC Cricket World Cup in 2011.
Dhoni walked like army personnel when his name was called upon to receive the award.
The 37-year-old Dhoni is the second Indian cricketer after Kapil Dev to receive this honor.
Besides the duo, 2017 World Weightlifting Champion in the 48kg category, Saikhom Mirabai Chanu, and former Asian Games gold medallist tennis player Somdev Devvarman were conferred with the Padma Shri award.
Seven years ago, the nation couldn’t take its eyes off Mahendra Singh Dhoni. After that stupendous win in the 2011 World Cup on April 2, Mahi was in an altogether different avatar at the Rashtrapati Bhavan to receive his Padma Bhushan, the third highest civilian honor.
