Cabinet approves 2% DA to Central Government Employees From January 2018

Central govt has officially declared two percent Dearness Allowances to central government staff across the country.

CG employees DA from January 2018

The Prime Minister Sri Narendra Modi has approved in the union cabinet held today to release the additional installment of dearness allowance to CG employees. The cabinet has also approved two percent Dearness Relief (DR) to pensioners with effect from 1st January 2018.

The existing DA is five percent. As per the announcement of da, the new dearness allowance will amount to seven percent of the basic pay/ pension.

This will benefit about 48.41 lakh Central Govt employees & 61.17 lakh, pensioners.

On account of both Dearness Allowance and Dearness Relief, the combined impact on the exchequer would be Rs.6077.72 crore per annum. Rs.7090.68 crore in the financial year 2018-19 i.e., for a period of 14 months from Jan 2018 to Feb 2019.

As per the recommendations of the 7th central pay commission, the govt has increased the DA in accordance with the accepted formula.
