Deen Dayal SPARSH Yojana Scholarship for classes 6th to 9th. The last date to apply in Hyderabad post office is 29-12-2017. Minister of Communications Shri Manoj Sinha launched a scholarship program for school children called “Deen Dayal SPARSH Yojana Scholarship” in November 2017. The details of the Scheme will be available on the website at www.postagestamps.gov.in and www.indiapost.gov.inThe main objective of this scheme is to increase the reach of Philately. Under this program, children of class VI to IX will get the annual scholarship.

To avail Deen Dayal SPARSH Yojana scholarship, a child must be a student of a recognized school. The concerned school should have a Philately Club. The student should be a member of that Club. If the prospective school does not have its own Philately Club, a student’s own Philately Deposit Account consider for competition.

The selections under the Deen Dayal SPARSH scheme would be made based on the evaluation of Project work on Philately & performance in Philately Quiz conducted by the Circles.

Details of Deen Dayal SPARSH Yojana Scholarship:

Shri Sinha said that under the scheme, 920 scholarships awarded to students pursuing Philately as a hobby. Every Postal Circle will select a maximum of 40 scholarships, i.e., ten students each from class VI, VII, VIII & IX. The Scholarship amount is Rs. 6000/- per annum @ Rs. 500/- p.m.

Every participating school would be assigned a Philately mentor to be chosen from amongst the renowned Philatelists. The Philately mentor would help to form the School level Philately Club. He will guide young and aspiring Philatelists on how to pursue the hobby. In other words, he will help the aspiring Philatelists on their Philately Projects, etc.

The Stamps collecting hobby includes seeking, locating, cataloging, displaying, acquiring, organizing, storing, and maintaining the stamps or related products in thematic areas. Philately is the king of hobbies because Stamp collection has a lot of educational benefits, it teaches a lot about the socio-economic, political reality of the period in which the stamp is issued or the theme on which it is issued.
