NEW DELHI: Cabinet approves CISF Group A cadre review. The union cabinet under the chairmanship of PM Sri Narendra Modi has approved the cadre review of Group A Executive cadre of Central Industrial Security Force (CISF). The cadre review will provide for the creation of 25 posts of different ranks from Assistant Commandant to Additional Director General ranks.

The CISF cadre restructuring will create an additional two posts of Additional Director General, seven posts of Inspector General, eight posts of Deputy Inspector General and eight posts of Commandant.
The cadre restructures of Group ‘A’ posts in CISF, the efficiency of the supervisory cadre & capacity building of the force would be enhanced. Timely creation of proposed posts in Group A cadre will strengthen its administrative as well as supervisory capabilities.
The CISF was enacted through the CISF Act 1968 and later amended in 1983. It provides integrated security to the Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs). Further, the act was amended in 1988, 1999 & 2009. It is now providing security to nuclear installations, seaports, power plants, space establishments, airports, sensitive Government buildings and heritage monuments.
The Central Industrial Security Force when came into existence has only three battalions. The CISF has its Headquarters at Delhi. The Director General heads the Organization.
